I don´t think that´s the solution, cause imagin situations where u do missions with guildies, and u have to answer the door or sumthing like that.
It would at least be some 15 minutes.
But than again, if u solo areas it could be a pain in the ass.

Id like to see ANet "test the waters" soley with *Fort Aspenwood* and implement something for AFKs
the mission is less than 20minutes long
one possibility:
a combination of an Idle Meter and Vote System - that allows the team to Vote to BOOTAFK anyone whos not playing if Idle for 5+ min
this may not be appropiate in other areas of GuildWars but Fort Aspenwood needs "something" to address all the repeat name AFKers im seeing
I've reported them but now what?

That would be fairly easy to circumvent by telling the bot to move or use a skill every now and then.

I had a VERY similiar experience with such a bot but it was alot wierder...
I was doing the stolen eggs quest, and this guy joins the group. He is a warrior. So we start the quest, and i say we should run to the first portal, there were 8 human players. Me being a monk didnt want to risk getting killed and getting DP, so I stayed behind and let the other people run. Well this warrior stayed behind to... So I started to move and it folowed me. I moved every which way, and he was always behind me. I stoped, he stoped, I moved, He moved. Then we zones to the other zone. At this point I was starting to get annoyed, He was still folowing me everywhere we went. so we go on, and the warrior is still behind me. the first group we see, he runs off to them and then we see him use his skill bar, every 2 seconds the bot would go from 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and use those skills. it was obvious because you saw a few of them that had cast times get canceled, over and over again! So we go on, and then the 7 of us die. Guess who is the one who survived. The W/Mo bot, who we started to yell at to either die or rez us... 2 minutes latter, as we were about to leave, a patrol comes into his line of site, he tabs him into view, and away he goes 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. And he dies, Shortly afterwards we went and finished the quest. A few minutes latter he sent me an IM and said the following. "H4 H4 H4, n00b ! \/\/@$ us1ng hax0rz!!!" Screenshoted, and reported.

Fat load of good that will do with random matchings. How are you going to prevent that bot from joining the next game?

Oddly, this new bot program is more useful than the previous "Stand there like I'm lagging" bots. No, really, I mean it.
Think of it this way: Now the guy in the #1 position has a temporary meat shield when they need it. If you get mobbed, and you have a body to hide behind, that could be useful, unlike a bot that just stands there at the begining and does nothing. That's one more target for the enemies to attack, which will slow them down (slightly) so they're not killing the spawn locations. This could be quite useful when used properly.
But, in continued seriousness, report their botting butts. They're still worthless, just a bit less so now.

What irks me is that I know people, including me, have been reporting these habitual botters/AFKers and they're STILL there doing it. I know it takes some work to investigate stuff like this but something needs to be done already...

Yesterday, there were several times where I was on a Kurzick team with two monks, only to have the two monks quit right after the mission began. It wasn't the same two monks, and it happened no less than three times.
The whole design of this type of mission is flawed, allowing multiple groups of people to join the same team. Both Aspenwood and Alliance battles need to be restricted to full teams of a single guild or alliance. That way the guild/alliance can police itself. No more randomness, which allows buttwipes to ruin the fun for everyone else.
C'mon, Anet, you did a mea culpa for us on the buy-back of attribute points, a core idea that simply wasn't a good one. Isn't it time to do one for Aspenwood/Jade Quarry/Alliance battles?

While I agree the system is broken right now, this is not the way to fix it. You're forgetting about people who are in small guilds or aren't in a guild at all. It would completely screw these players.
